Cloud vs. On-Premise

To better compare the costs of cloud computing with an on-premise infrastructure, it is useful to make a categorical comparison of cost components. All of this was examined in the context of our case study in collaboration with AGSOTEC.

Even without specifically addressing individual costs, it is easily apparent that in our use case, the cloud is more cost-effective than on-premise solutions.

Why? Due to the requirements and operations in testing. In the automotive sector, there are typically traditional integration milestones where configurations with defined functional scopes need to be provided. Such fixed dates have the disadvantage that the entire software must be available on a specific day – and that in high quality for further internal tests, including by Quality Management departments and management.

However, this leads to short-term spikes in IT needs for the infrastructure because everything needs to be tested quickly and comprehensively.
